”I’m very comfortable writing sad songs, but there has to be something triumphant to the sadness. I can’t let the emotion completely own the story, that’s no way to live!!…”
1. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs ”Don’t You Forget About Me”
(single)
”This initially grew out of several ideas – first was the chord progression in-between the verses which I wrote and bounced years before the track came together. My choir ‘oohs’ that accompany the first half of the song came at a different time. I think I was recording in a basement in London and the sound was this Disney feeling I’d been looking for. Another part came in when I took the idea to Dave Okumu and he solo’d around the hook melody several times. His guitar playing really made this song an important thing to finish for me. Then maybe six months later I worked on it with Julian Bunetta who dismissed my chorus production and brought a whole new groove to the table. The key change is a secret… As is the subject matter.
